Share Your Story: Day 6 - Corey Pahl

How long have you attended Faith Christian Church?

Just a little over a year now.

In a few sentences share how you became a Christian.

Wow, that is a loaded question to me. I have never not been a Christian, I would say from the time I was a small child I believed. I grew up in the church. It was my grandmother, Elsie, that always talked to me so freely about Jesus and what He did for me and she would tell me, "Babe, I will pray for you." I know she did and that prayer paved a path for me. I asked to be baptized at age 13. And then continued to be involved in the church as a teen, young adult, then married and now as a parent. I can honestly say, I had my moments in life like most do that I was angry with God. But I have always known that He never leaves me and I always stay close to Him now. I learned my lesson and so much more. I continue to grow in HIM. I am beyond grateful to be a Christian, A Daughter of The Most High King!!!!

In what ways has Faith Christian Church brought value to your life?

FCC has brought value to my life by giving me the opportunity to serve and give back to others and by helping my family grow more deeply rooted in Our Savior. My sons have been baptized since attending FCC. I know a lot of that is attributed to how we've raised them, but when FCC offered baptism, they both came to me and asked if we could pray about me getting baptized. Also my husband has been re-baptized at FCC and he has been inspired to read the year long bible study. Something I have been praying he would do is read The Word. Praise GOD!! FCC is inspiring and influencing my family to be more of what and who God created us to be and for His greater good to be done in this world, resulting in Soul's Saved. Jesus is being brought to those around us by educating us more in The Word of God.

What do you enjoy most about coming to church?

There is a lot that I enjoy about coming to church! I love to serve and give back. I love the Holy Spirit moving during our Worship sets. I can feel the power and Him at work. I love that I hear people giving their lives to Jesus almost every Sunday. I love being part of the growth of this church to be included in something bigger than myself that will go on for 50 - 100 years and more, beyond my life. I love the feeling of being loved and not judged. The people seem to be loving, humble and really care about you.

What are you most excited for as we look ahead to what God is doing in our communities?

Bringing Jesus to the lost, hands down this is what it is all about.

What is your favorite Bible verse and why?

OMG there are so many. How can I narrow down God's Word to one........

One of my favorites is Proverbs 23:7
"For as a man thinks in his heart, so he is..."

This part of the verse tells me that MY thoughts, and MY words have power and with that power I can build myself and those around me UP or tear myself and them down. I ask myself, "So Corey, which is it going to be?" I remind myself of this verse so often in life as I, like many, had overcome negative beliefs about myself.
